Cheese - POLISHED BLADE SURFACE KNIFE

POLISHED BLADE KNIFE

Blades are polished to several different stages, which mostly depends on the knife’s purpose or intended use. Blade polishing is a metal surface smoothing treatment with the use of abrasive and polishing tools. Polishing creates a really smooth and even surface with regular or high gloss. Blades with polished surfaces are especially appropriate for professional butcher knives.

BLADE POLISHING PROCESS

At the beginning of the polishing process, the knife master uses a rough grind tool. At this stage, all major surface defects are removed, like nicks and scratches. At every following step, the knife master uses a finer abrasive tool, until the desired result is achieved. After all those described steps, a very tiny and fine lines appears on the surface, which is thinner than at satin finish and is not seen with the naked eye.

MIRROR POLISHING

The next stage of polishing is mirror polishing. For reaching mirror reflect surface finish, a high-speed polishing wheel and other fine grinding devices are used. Mechanical processes are usually combined with special buffing and polishing compounds. Surface Polishing up to the Mirror like finish can also be reached with hand or machine grinding using chromium oxide, wet or dry abrasive material.
