Pocket knives - DROP-POINT BLADE KNIFE

Pocket knives

The main characteristic of a drop-point blade is that the backside of the blade is designed with a convex shape. This design feature distinguishes it from the clip-point blade, which can have a concave or straight backside of the blade. Drop-point blades are generally the thickest in the upper part, and then they narrow up to the blade edge. Due to mechanical properties, such blade design enables higher stiffness of the blade point at direct parallel sticks and higher stiffness of the whole blade when bending stresses. In the middle of the 20th century, famous knife designer Bob Loveless started using drop-point blades for hunting knives. Nowadays, drop-point blades are used for knives of all purposes.
